Use the Quick Search form to search fast and efficiently by keyword:

You are required to select a search criterion from the drop down list and enter the keyword reflecting your criteria selection into the search text field. Enter the Year Range (optional). “ALL” is the default setting. Limit the search by selecting a specific year. The Gift Range field is optional.

Search by Name (Last Name only, First Name only or both)

  • Try to enter the exact spelling of the donor for which you are searching
  • To get a more refined result, search by last name rather than first name
  • Narrow your search by entering both Last Name and First Name and/or Middle Initial
  • Use the Exact Match button to narrow your search further
  • Donor Name Search Example: Smith
  • This search will return listings with Smithers, Hydesmith You don’t need to use wildcard characters (“*”) as your search string will automatically do so
  • The search is NOT case sensitive or order specific
  • Click arrows to sort by any field of your of choice

Search by Private Foundation Name

  • Try to enter the exact spelling of the Private Foundation Name for which you are searching
  • If you are not sure of the exact spelling of a word, you can enter part of the Foundation Name
  • Enter the Year Range (optional). “ALL” is the default setting. Limit the search by selecting a specific year

Search by Organization Name

  • Try to enter the exact spelling of the Organization Name or part of the Organization Name for which you are searching
  • If you are not sure of the exact spelling of a word, you can enter part of the Organization Name
  • Enter the Year Range (optional). “ALL” is the default setting. Limit the search by selecting a specific year
  • When searching for donations to a specific charity for a particular year, be sure to enter the year range you are interested in viewing. If you do not narrow your search by a particular year, your search will return ALL giving to that Organization. Click arrows to sort by any field of your of choice

Search by Sector

  • Enter Sector
  • Enter the Year Range (optional). “ALL” is the default setting. Limit the search by selecting a specific year
  • Sector Search Example: Health
  • This search will return ALL sector listings that have the word Health in it. Search results are organized by Organization Name
  • In order to narrow your Sector search, the user should use the Advanced Search form and refine your search by selecting a sector from the drop down menu. By using the drop down menu the user will have the option to view gifts to Organizations in the Health-Hospital sectors, as well as other health specific and related fields

Search by City

  • Enter City
  • Enter the Year Range (optional). “ALL” is the default setting. Limit the search by selecting a specific year
  • City Search Example: Vancouver
  • This search will return ALL listings to Organizations in Vancouver. Search results are organized by Organization Name

Search by Province

  • Enter Province
  • Enter the Year Range (optional). “ALL” is the default setting. Limit the search by selecting a specific year
  • Province Example: British Columbia
  • This search will return ALL listings to Organizations in British Columbia. Search results are organized by Organization Name

Search by Region

  • Enter Region
  • Enter the Year Range (optional). “ALL” is the default setting. Limit the search by selecting a specific year
  • Region Example: Western Canada
  • This search will return ALL listings to Organizations in Western Canada. Search results are organized by Organization Name.
  • Regions are classified as follows:
    • Eastern Canada: New Brunswick, Newfoundland, Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island
    • Central Canada: Ontario, Quebec
    • Northern Canada: Northwest Territories, Nunavut, Yukon
    • Western Canada: Alberta, British Columbia, Manitoba, Saskatchewan

Search by Gift Range

  • Enter Gift Range
  • Do not use any symbols when entering a dollar amount (i.e. $ or , )
  • Gift Range Example: 1000 to 9999
  • Enter the Year Range (optional). “ALL” is the default setting. Limit the search by selecting a specific year
  • This search will return ALL listings that have a dollar amount in that range. Search results are organized by Organization Name

 

 

Use the Advanced Search form to narrow your search by using multiple fields:

You are required to select a radio button (Private Foundation or Individual) and enter the keyword reflecting your selection in the name field. Enter the Year Range (optional). “ALL” is the default setting. Limit the search by selecting a specific year. Broaden your search by using fewer search fields. Narrow your search by using multiple search fields. Use the Exact Match button to narrow your search further.

  • Organization: You can refine your search by including an Organization. Enter an Organization Name into the search field.
  • Sector: You can refine your search by including a Sector. Select a Sector from the drop down menu.
  • City: You can refine your search by including a City. Enter a City into the search field.
  • Province: You can refine your search by including a Province. Select a Province from the drop down menu.
  • Region: You can refine your search by including a Region. Select a Region from the drop down menu.
  • Gift Range: You can refine your search by including a Gift Range. Enter a Gift Range into the search fields. Be sure not to include any symbols when entering a dollar amount (i.e. $ or , ) Gift Range Example: 1000 to 9999
  • Year Range: (optional) “ALL” is the default setting. Limit the search by selecting a specific year

Expand List of Results
If too few or no results are returned, loosen or broaden your search by using fewer search fields. Another option is to uncheck the Exact Match button.

Using Multiple Criteria Fields
Use multiple criteria fields to generate your search to best suit your research needs. If used appropriately, PGD Canada can generate new donor lists by sector, city, province, region and gift amount.

Create a New Prospect List
Example: #1 - By combining two search fields in the Advanced Search such as sector (Health-Hospitals) and gift range (1,000,000 – 10,000,000) will give the user results of all gifts made to hospitals in the one million to ten million dollar range.

Example: #2 - By combining two search fields in the Advanced Search such as province (Ontario) and gift range (100,000– 500,000) will give the user results of all prospects who have donated between $100,000 - $500,000 to Ontario charities.
